Knife composition «Commander»

The handle of the composition «Commander» has the form of a half-length image of a warrior in traditional armor. The unusual shape of the blade is a reference to the «Sword of Wisdom», which is an attribute of many Bodhisattvas depicting Buddhist thangkas (religious painting on cotton or silk). It is a symbol of the severing of ignorance and attachments.

The warrior's armor is decorated with dragon's heads. The dragon is a symbol of manhood, strong character, and courage. The numbers of dragons at the clothes indicated the person's status. Only the country ruler could wear the attire with nine dragons, which is the most count of the creature's depictions among all stratum of society. 

The artist created only the part of the scabbard to accentuate the blade's shape. It supports the composition in a vertical position at the rack made by Italian marble. The artistic decision lets to achieve the elegance of the construction and demonstrate the beauty of laminated or Damascus steel.

There is the long trident at the commander's right side. It is a symbol of the destruction of three poisons of ignorance, attachment, and aversion.On the left side is fastened the shield, decorated with stone, similar to the one inside the armor's medallion. The image reveals the glory of a strong person who could inspire warriors and raise their morale.
